You will die because you will have no food or water. 11 Hezekiah is saying that the Lord your God will save you from the king of Assyria. This is what it said:ģ2:9 Lachish was a town about 25 miles (40 kilometres) to the south and west of Jerusalem.ġ0 ‘Sennacherib, king of Assyria says this to you: “You are sitting in Jerusalem and there are soldiers everywhere round you. This is what he said: 7 ‘Be strong and brave. They met in the big place by the city's gate. He asked all the captains to come together in front of him. Hezekiah prepares to fightĦ Hezekiah chose some men to be captains over the people in the fight. And he made a lot of weapons and shields too. He made the wall called the Millo round the City of David stronger, too.

And he built another wall outside the first wall. Hezekiah built tall buildings on the walls. All the men worked as well as they could. They said, ‘We do not want the kings of Assyria to find plenty of water here.’ 5 Then Hezekiah's men worked to do repairs to the city's walls where they needed it.

And they stopped the big stream that went through the land there. And the officers and the soldiers helped him to do it. They decided to stop all the water that came from streams round the city. 3 So he talked with his officers and with his best soldiers. And he saw that he wanted to fight against Jerusalem's people. Hezekiah makes Jerusalem strongĢ Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come. His soldiers lived in tents round all the strong cities that had walls. 2 Chronicles 32 Sennacherib attacks Judahġ After Hezekiah had done all these good things, Sennacherib, the king of Assyria came into Judah.
